Happy Sunday Everyone! I spent the afternoon hanging at KOIN-TV with Steve Pierce, my AMS President as he on air this weekend. I truly miss working in TV, especially with weather stuff. I love the graphics and putting the pieces together that make the forecast.
Day 371...
Happy Monday! What an amazing day today was. It's not often that Monday's are as awesome as today was. Not only did I get a lot accomplished, but I got start working on a new project that I will be announcing soon. Only hint is that involves weather. Look for that news coming up in a week or so!
Day 372...
Happy Tuesday! I got the chance to hang with the family tonight as we celebrated the wedding anniversary of my cousin and his wife. In addition to the party, I got to hang out with my nephew Kingstyn Oliver. This little dude is growing so quickly and I know its only a matter of time until he is rolling over, crawling, and walking.
Day 373...
It's Wednesday....Hump Day lol! I spend the afternoon working on some golf shots. I don't have a true pitching wedge, so I'm stuck with a nine iron and a 56 degree wedge in the bag. I spent an hour just working those clubs to help with the short game. Shout out to Brian Lape for the lesson and helping to get it in order.
Day 374...
Happy Birthday Twister! Yes, today is the birthday (release date) of Twister. 22 years ago, Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt made it cool to chase tornadoes. In reality, it has always been cool, but the movie brought it to the forefront and led the way for thousands of people to follow their passion for meteorology and science.
Speaking of twister, we almost had a couple in Oregon today. We are in a cool unsettled onshore pattern which can give us some funnel clouds. Check out this picture from earlier today as this person captured two funnel clouds around the Brownsville exit off of I-5 in the southern Willamette Valley.
Around 11:35 AM today near Brownsville, OR. Trained weather spotters called to let us know that they saw a pair of funnel clouds. No reports of damage as cold air funnels like these, rarely touch the ground. More are possible though the afternoon across the area. pic.twitter.com/sJRhoAiwJt— NWS Portland (@NWSPortland) May 10, 2018
Day 375...
Happy Full Disk Friday! Check out this image from GOES-16 today.
It's finally here! Happy #FullDiskFriday once again! This morning our #GOESEast satellite is sharing her view of sunrise and sunset over the Western Hemisphere yesterday. Note the thunderstorms rolling through the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest. More fulldisks: https://t.co/aA2Tw1ZbIm pic.twitter.com/4E0LFe4pVw— NOAA Satellites (@NOAASatellites) May 11, 2018
I hope everyone had a great week! The weather this weekend looks like it will be amazing! Don't forget to call your mother on Sunday!
