The Day After Yesterday And Before That....
It was a crazy weekend to say the least. Friday evening I arrived in Eugene and hit the ground running. Normally I would just chill at the hotel, get some dinner and get some good sleep (or at least try). From the time I checked in, until almost midnight, I was running around trying to get some last minute details on a breaking news story, connecting with friends, and trying to figure it all out. Saturday morning came very early. I was at Autzen earlier than normal and I was finally able to sit on a curb on the south side of the stadium and take a moment to soak it all in. Fall was here and college football had started. The game was good. I had a blast with friends on the upper deck and just enjoyed talking with them. After the game, I packed into the car and headed east toward Central Oregon. I met up with family and other friends and a great weekend just hanging out. My twin sister and I headed to Black Butte Ranch to take a look at the GW Fire burning just outside the ranch. We talked with some of the incident commanders and headed back to Sunriver. Sunday, we all headed back to the westside of the state. We drove past BBR on the way home and fire was starting to get going. We arrived home just before 2pm. At 2:30, I got a call that the ranch was being evacuated. TV reports from the ranch showed the fire had moved a mile toward the ranch and was only about 2,500 feet from the SW and NW corners of the ranch. (BBR is shaped like a 3) The fire has burned into middle section of forest land and is very close. To view a map click here. Courtesy of Black Butte Ranch. That brings us to today. It rained over night. Good to see that. We really needed it. Its Tuesday. Oregon vs. Michigan is 3 days away. The Blazers are back in town and working out at the PF. Sports are in full swing around here. Berger heads to China this week. The show will take place in China and he will send it back for me to produce. A lighter week maybe. Have a great week !
