Happy Saturday Everyone! I'm looking forward to family coming into town tomorrow and playing tour guide for the next ten days. I think we are going to head to beach and maybe the gorge at some point. It will also be nice to just be with everyone. If you know my family, we aren't small and nothing we do can be considered little. I'll share some pictures as the week goes along.
Day 433...
It's a beautiful evening in downtown Portland as we wrap up Day 1 of the family vacation. We did cousins night down in the pearl. We all gathered up at my brothers place and then headed out to dinner. Remember when I said we have a large group? Yeah we needed a table for 13. Nothing we do is small. It was an absolute blast. Check us all out!
Earlier at the airport, we got to experience the new passenger exit to the baggage counters. I'm not a fan of it. I like meeting people where the shops were. It was a much better flow in my opinion, but I'm sure they have a handle on what works best.
Day 434...
Happy Monday Everyone! The weather was really strange today. We were supposed to be warming up but that stubborn marine layer stuck around most of the day. I wanted to get out and get some more practice in before tomorrow's golf outing. King City was playing fast and I had a really good time, I shot a pretty decent score and I think I'm ready to play tomorrow.
Day 435...
Happy Tuesday! Well today was the big family golf outing that I have been really looking forward to. I wish I had just played better. I spent the first nine playing with my old set of clubs and I know it cost me several strokes. I wanted my uncle to play with my current clubs. During the first few holes, he did something to his back so he sat out most of the tournament. One of the cooler moments came on our seventh hole (16), when an errant tee shot from our other foursome came flying out of nowhere.
You can see the ball barely miss the cart in front of us just about 1:08 into the video. Miah made a great catch it really caught us off guard. I guess I was just lucky to have the camera rolling. By the way, I shot a 101...ouch.
Day 436...
Happy Wednesday! I woke up so sore this morning. I've played a lot of golf, but man yesterday took a lot out of me. We had a family bbq tonight with the whole family. I know I say it often but I mean it. I'm blessed to have the family that I do.
Day 437...
Happy Thursday Everyone! I was ready to get back to work and have a fun night here at the bar. One thing I wasn't looking forward to was dealing with the heat all day. The temperatures soared and the AC tried its best to keep up with the scorching temperatures. Here is where we all ended up temperature wise today.
The hot weather isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Make sure to keep hydrated and stay indoors as much as possible.540pm | Hot enough yet? Three of our official stations came within a degree of 100° today, but couldn't quite get over the top (yet). As usual, the place to go to escape the heat was the coast, where highs were in the 60s and 70s. #blazinghot #orwx #wawx pic.twitter.com/C15nelMG9H— NWS Portland (@NWSPortland) July 13, 2018
Day 438...
The hot weather continued today and it will be around for the weekend as well. Tomorrow is the Oregon AMS summer picnic and I'm really looking forward to hanging out at casa de Nelsen deep in the gorge. Check out this awesome radar picture from NWS Memphis tonight. It's a great showcase of inflow, outflow, and downburst!
Check out the cluster of storms from the high resolution Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) in Southaven. You can see the converging air prior to convective initiation followed by a downburst. Low ambient wind shear leads to the near perfect symmetry of the outflow. pic.twitter.com/GzU4ON9NNS— NWS Memphis (@NWSMemphis) July 12, 2018
