Days 396...397...398...399...400

Day 396...

Happy Friday everyone!  I took the night off from work and headed up to Mt. Hood to spend time with the family.  For the last year, we've been coming up to a house in Government Camp.  The view of Mt. Hood from the rest area a couple hundred yards away is one of my favorites.  After dinner, I wanted to get a some pictures of the sun setting on the mountain. The rest stop view was okay, and after checking out what time sun set would occur that high up, I decided going to Trillium Lake would be the best bet.  Here is a couple shots I took.

I truly love coming up here.  It's only an hour from downtown Portland and yet you feel that you're a million miles away.  It's so relaxing and the feeling of freedom can't compare.

Day 397...

Happy Saturday everyone!  Well I'm back to the real world.  I left Mt. Hood early this afternoon.  On the way home, I listened to IndyCar radio and their call of the first of two weekend races at Belle Isle in Detroit.  I was really impressed on they covered the race.  Of course working in radio, I know how it happens, but was just really impressed by the ability to quick get information out.  Once I got home, I got a haircut and then headed to work.  It's been a fun night here at the bar.  I'm looking forward to CountryFest tomorrow!

Day 398...

This might be the funniest thing you'll see this week or month.  I've often wondered if anyone has crashed the pace car while leading the field around...well today I got that answer.

The race was delayed some thirty minutes.  An employee of General Motors was behind the wheel.  I hope he gets to keep his job.

After watching the end of the race, and what a great race it was, I headed downtown to CountryFest!  I was looking forward to seeing Parmalee and Eli Young Band headline the annual show.  I had looked last night at the weather models to see if rain would be an issue.  Both the WRF-GFS and NAM had a week line of showers moving through Portland around 4pm and sure enough, it started to sprinkle and then really come down.  The radar showed the dying out front moving quickly so the shower lasted about 30 minutes and then was gone.

One of the best parts of the Rose Festival is the carnival on the waterfront.  The concert takes place on the south end of the waterfront near the Salmon Street Springs fountain.  The city closes down Naito Parkway and with that a world famous attraction gets a little more attention.  Mill Ends Park, the smallest in the world, measuring at 452 square inches, is easily accessible with no traffic to hurry you across the street.

Yes the park exists between the lanes of traffic and if you blink, you will miss it.

The show was amazing and it was great to catch up with my friends from Nashville.

Day 399...

Happy Monday everyone!  I just got home from the hospital. I had an MRI as part of a routine checkup.  I won't go into details because I'm not the biggest fan of these things.  If I never have to do another one, I won't.

Day 400...

Day 400!!!!  Happy Tuesday everyone!  This project started 400 days ago I've been blessed beyond belief on the response to this.  Thank you to everyone who reads this and those who have sent notes and messages about it.  I'll continue to post for the time being.  As I've said there will be some new projects coming and I can't wait to share with you those.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
