Days 378...379...380...381...382...

Day 378...

Happy Monday everyone!  What an awesome time tonight.  As I've talked about on this blog, I'm a National Weather Service Severe Weather Spotter for the Portland office.  They hold training sessions in the spring and winter.  I've been a spotter for a very long time, but I still enjoy going for the refresher.  Tonights training was in Tigard, right down the street from home.  I invited my twin sister Emily to come with me.  She shares the passion of weather like I do and I thought it would be great for her to come and learn, and get her spotter number.  When I got mine, I was given Washington 17, hers tonight is Washington 192.

Day 379...

What an interesting Tuesday today ended up being.  A couple months ago I applied for a job with ODOT.  I didn't get it, but thought I'd ask for feedback since the declining email had a person on the other end.  Fast forward a month and I'm sitting in the Region 1 ODOT office in downtown.  I met with the HR director and she went over my resume and was incredibly helpful in reconstructing my resume and gave me some really good, solid real world pointers for moving forward in my job search.  Following the meeting, I headed over to McMenamin's on Broadway for the year ending Oregon AMS election meeting.  I'm happy to report that I was re-elected as the Oregon AMS Vice President for another year.  I'm truly thankful for those on our executive council.  I can't wait to share some of the plans we have coming up for next year!

One other exciting news I got today, I'll be interviewing Alexander Rossi next week.  The former Indy 500 champion will be in Wilsonville to promote the Indy 500 and the series return to Portland in September.  I'll post the interview on an upcoming podcast.

 Day 380...

Happy Wednesday Everyone! The Oregon Ducks are back on the course and heading to the NCAA Tournament!  All it took was some outstanding play and they're back!

Day 381...

Happy Thursday!  A short post tonight as I only have a couple minutes between songs to finish this post.  One of the more interesting things I can't ever plan on is the randomness of the songs that are requested.  Tonight was no exception.  I had requests for Clint Black, Dwight Yoakam, and Tracy Bryd.  All in all, it was a good set!

Day 382...

Happy Mt. St. Helen's day!  Back in 1980, Mt. St. Helens erupted and caused the biggest natural disaster in the Pacific Northwest.  The ash plume ultimately traveled around the globe.  My relatives in Michigan had ash fall on the back table.  My parents here in Oregon had several inches and I think they still have a jar of it stashed somewhere.  While most of the attention is focused on Hawaii for good reason, let's not forget what happened here eighteen years ago.  Check out this satellite shot from NWS.
