The Producer Meets Greg Oden

Many reporters standing around the exit to the D & E wings at Portland International Airport. Airport staff and passengers all standing around looking at everyone getting off the planes. People coming up to you and asking why are you here. One answer...Greg Oden is coming to town. They ask about ten other questions and most of us just stood there and explained who he is and why we are there to see him.
His plane arrives an hour late as the media and onlookers all gaze in amazement at the seven foot giant walking toward us with his Mom and his agent in tow. As soon as he reaches the exit of the security walk way, he is completely surrounded by cameras, reporters, and fans. He chats with all of us as the other passengers want to get thru. Oden kindly walks a few steps to the side to allow the steady stream of passengers to continue about their business. Most of them unaware of who the giant is only a few feet from them. Rookie of the Year Brandon Roy and blazer teammate LaMarcus Aldridge greeted Oden with introductions and friendly banter. Oden is in town for three days as he will meet with the Blazers for dinner on Tuesday evening. He will work out for the team on Wednesday and will have breakfast on Thursday. The other possible number one pick, Kevin Durant will arrive Thursday and will work out for the team on Friday. More to come on Durant later in the week.
