Day 332...
Three years ago I was sitting at the top of Arco Arena in Sacramento. Garth Brooks had taken the stage about fifteen minutes late. Truth be told, I was part of that reason. I had made the road trip with my County Co-Mind, Ashley. She had surprised me with Radio Programmers Meet & Greet and the time had gotten away from all of us. Garth and Tricia were so awesome, so sweet, and made for a memorable experience. I got to sit and just listen to a living legend talk about his career. I got to see my best friend talk with one of her heros. It is something I will never forget.
The whole day seemed to lead to this moment, sitting and listening, singing and yes crying, as the music took over. I had just lost my dad a couple months before and some of the songs very much reminded me of him. He would have loved that I was seeing Garth.
There are a handful of moments that I've had an experience where I truly feel blessed to be somewhere. This was one of those trips. Yes I knew Garth would be playing Portland, but I knew that making this road trip was something that was going to be special. Looking back, I'm really glad I went.
