Happy Thursday Everyone! I hope your week has been great. A quick post before I head off to work. The weather is starting to shape up for a nice weekend. Maybe a sprinkle tomorrow, but the weekend looks pretty decent. One thing we are worried about is the lack of mountain snow pack. Check out this tweet from NWS and NRCS.
Therefore, despite the near normal precipitation, it's no surprise that snowpack is so meager, as illustrated in the latest Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) plots via NRCS (@NRCS_Oregon)— NWS Portland (@NWSPortland) February 8, 2018

On a side note, NRCS is going to be an upcoming guest for the Oregon AMS. I will pass along more details when they get firmed up. It will be interesting to see what happens the rest of the winter up in the mountains.
Day 286...
Happy Friday! Continuing on yesterdays topic, let's talk low land snow. We had our "white Christmas" and that's been it for the lowlands in NW Oregon. Check out the info graphic from NWS Portland.
Time is running out ⏱️for lowland snow this winter based on what has happened in recent history in Portland & Eugene #pdxtst #orwx pic.twitter.com/xe9n6LVJ2T— NWS Portland (@NWSPortland) February 9, 2018
I know we're still in winter, but I think I'm going to call it. I believe we are done with low elevation snow. I'm going to put the fork in winter. Bring on spring and summertime.
