Good Morning Oregon! You sure are beautiful. I made it to Medford in just about four hours. Checked into the hotel and headed to the Jackson County Fair Grounds to check in for Country Crossings Music Festival. Upon arrival, I found out that Ashley was down of the count with heat stroke. I felt terrible for her, she put on this event and poured her heart and soul into it. Once I knew she was going to be okay, I felt a little bit better. There is nothing worse than seeing one of your best friends not doing well.
One of the reason why I went to Medford was to see Jake Owen play a full production show. Jake and I go way back to when he was playing small bars and county fairs. We've stayed in touch over the years and trade texts often about life. He's one of the good guys in the business. It's also really refreshing because he also gets what its all about. I caught up with him before the show and waited to see what he would bring. He did not disappoint.
Day 89....
Day #2 of Country Crossings....
After the adventures of taking shuttle busses to the parking lots, we knew we should probably get there a little bit early. Local boy Ben Rue was taking the stage at 1pm and I wanted to catch up with him. Sony records had dropped him and he was still plugging away. He's also one of the really good guys. The hundred or so people were treated to an absolute awesome show. He played a couple new original songs including "I Hate Chevys". Go download the song on iTunes. Chevrolet would be smart to sign the song for an endorsement.
After Ben played, William Michael Morgan, Walker Maguire, and Brett Eldridge were on the must see list. All three were really good. Walker Maguire (two guys) were funny, interactive, and made the crowd laugh. William Michael Morgan has that country sound and I foresee him being in the game for a while. Brett again had the crowds attention and its really no surprise why he is so popular.
The night concluded with Luke Bryan. It's no surprise that I'm a fan of his. The man knows how to captivate a crowd and they sang to every song, word for word. Entertaining crowds each night is draining, but you'd never know that watching Luke. He leaves it all on stage. An unforgettable night.
