Here are the picks this weekend ! I will post the standings on Sunday. PS. I will recap the whole "College Gameday Experience" Sunday.
Ryan Wenzinger:
28-24 Cal
23-20 UCLA
Mike Barrett:
Oregon 44 Cal 21
Yes, Oregon is that hot. Cal is very solid, but they’re catching the Ducks at the wrong time. As I mentioned last week, the Ducks were bound for a let-down game at Stanford, and luckily for them, it only lasted for one quarter- the second. Cal has ridden its earlier win over Tennessee to this top-ten ranking. And, while the win was nice, we’ve seen in the past couple of weeks the Vols aren’t quite as impressive as originally advertised. The Bears also have a few key defensive players nicked up this week. If Cal can hang tough through the first quarter and a half, this could be a game. But, if the Ducks shoot out of the blocks, it could be long day for the Bears.
Oregon State 28 UCLA 24
This is the season for the Beavs. Lose this game, and any kind of recovery towards salvaging a 7 or 8-win season will be extremely difficult. Recent history tells us Mike Riley doesn’t ever beat UCLA. It also tells us the Beavers don’t lose at home. With last week in mind, how Riley prepares his team emotionally for the Bruins is vital. There is also a ton of pressure on Canfield now. His maturity is going to be tested, against a pretty good UCLA secondary. And, he doesn’t have Stroughter this week. If he throws an early pick, the fans could start to turn on him. UCLA’s quarterback situation, with Cowan being down, doesn’t hurt them as much as people think. Olsen probably should have been the starter anyway. The only common opponent so far has been Utah. The Beavs hammered them, and the Utes then hammered UCLA. No idea what that means.
Joe Reitzug:
UO 41-33
UCLA 35-13
Jeremy Daw:
Oregon
UCLA
Todd Mansfield:
Down in Eugene, this is tough. But let's just go with
history. Oregon has won 7 straight vs Cal at Autzen. Why
mess with that. Oregon wins a shootout... 45-42.
UCLA beats OSU
Bobby:
Oregon takes it to Cal. Oregon scores early and puts Cal in a hole that they can’t dig out of. Dixon and J Stew have big days and the Oregon D will get to Longshore often. Ducks 45 Cal 28
Oregon State and UCLA. This is a toss up. Sammie is out. Advantage UCLA. UCLA doesn’t know how the QB situation will shake out. Advantage OSU. I’ll take OSU in a very close game. If UCLA can figure out the OSU D, then UCLA will win, but I’m going to go with OSU. Canfield hopefully has a good game !
