Boom Goes The Jet !

Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday....A weekend full of "Shock and Awe" I spent most of the weekend out in Hillsboro at the Oregon International Airshow. My all time favorite airshow act, The Blue Angels were back in town. Thursday and Friday were the practice days. They were flying the show on Saturday and Sunday. I picked up my brother from the airport on Thursday and headed out to Hillsboro to watch. Most of the show has remained unchanged over the years. Its still exciting to see it all. The thrill came when the diamond (planes 1-4) had just completed a gentle barrel roll over show center. As the planes made the turn to the west, one of the solo pilots dived to the deck and went to full afterburner. It was a sneak attack to those of us who didn't see it coming. I can say I saw it, my brother not so lucky. We were both buzzing. It was cool. Fridays practice brought more fun. A group of nine family and friends all came to watch practice. We thought it would be cool to see them take off, so we sat at the end of the runway. Four jets, full thrust, jet fuel in the air, chest and body shaking because it is so loud....it hurts ! It was cool as the take off went right over head, no more than 100 feet above. Saturday was great, I went onto the airport grounds and got some great pictures of the Blues as they sat in formation off the runway. The show was awesome from show center. You see the cool tricks the way they were meant to be seen. Sunday brought low clouds and a little rain. My family joined me at the end of the runway to watch the show. I'll post the entire video later. The take off once again passed right overhead. This is the movie of the solo pilot going super sonic just a few feet off the runway. He wasn't supposed to do it, but it happened. Enjoy the brief video, it was a great weekend all around. All topped off by a sonic boom and some really fast jets !
