The weather started out interesting today for anyone in Western Oregon. Morning thunderstorms moved in just as the morning commute was winding down. Why am I talking about weather during my Champ Car update ? Good Question... The answer is because the weather is the focus today. The current forecast is calling for showers on Saturday and Sunday. Friday looks completely dry as of today. If showers can fall overnight Saturday and not on Sunday, the race should be a good one. Rain always makes things interesting. Teams have to decide to take the risk of running the slicks on the wet payment or stay with the rain tires as the track begins to dry. If you are running the rain tires, you have to go off line to find the puddles to cool off the tires. If you are running the slicks, you have to make sure you stay online and not get into the moisture. The forecast will be the talk of the paddock come Thursday and Friday. The setup of the car depends on the weather and if it is in question come race day, it will be interesting.
I mentioned in yesterdays post that Champ Car President Steve Johnson made an appearence on Sports Business Radio. Take a listen.
