Day 310...
Happy Tuesday Everyone! Well this is a special day. Today marks the one year anniversary of being let go by iHeart here in Portland. While its never fun to be eliminated, I viewed it as an opportunity to not only recover mentally and physically, but a chance to see what else was out there.
In the year since I left "corporate radio," I've done the following:
- Spent more time with my family and friends
- Launched this "100 Days" blog
- Created the CorserCast podcast, which is now available on iTunes and TuneIn
- Attend three festivals
- Strengthen connections in records and radio
- Made some awesome new friends
- Had time to reflect on what really is important
- Featured in AllAccess 10 Questions (read here)
While I miss radio, I can't wait to be back.
Radio is much more than what some people believe it to be. There are so many talented people on air and behind the scenes that never get to have their thoughts and ideas ever considered. Those people, they are the ones who will ultimately make or break radio as we go forward into the next several years.
I've had a lot of great conversations with people whom I believe to be way smarter than myself, and they all believe that your attitude toward life is a reflection of how your day will turn you. Jake Owen, country music star, and a friend, said in an interview (read here), "You wanna get up in the morning and be positive, then positive things are most likely going to happen, because positive energy attracts positive energy. If you wake up in the morning, and you're going to be a dick, then most likely the people around you are gonna be dicks, and it's just gonna be a negative day." He isn't wrong. The attitude you have will dictate how things happen. I've seen it happen a lot. Don't get me wrong, I was really disappointed, but I also knew how the business works. I had a choice to make, am I going to be pissed off, or will I work hard to make the next opportunity the best one yet? That's my mindset!
I've had a blast sharing random parts of my life and I can't wait to take you along for the journey. I appreciate everyone of you for your love and support.
