Days 253...254...255

Day 253...

Happy Sunday!  I'm just going to vent a little bit.  I work in the service industry and I have the utmost respect for the servers and bartenders I work with every weekend.  I know how hard they work and how hard I work.  We depend on tips to live.  Most of us don't make a lot in an hourly wage so tips are how we get by and pay bills.  I'm starting to see a trend I don't like and I'm going to come out and say this right now...if you are under the age of 30...chances are you're the reason why.  I know Millennials get a bad wrap.  Not all of it is true, but some is and I think this is part of it.  This generation is the on demand generation.  They've never really lived having to wait for things.  As a DJ, I see this first hand.  I also understand that if they don't get it now, they will lodge a complaint to whomever listens.  With streaming services and digital music players, you can simply skip songs.  However, out here in the real world, songs play on radio and you can't fast forward them and the same goes for me when I play a song.  When someone requests a song...they are "asking" for it.  Just because you request it, that doesn't automatically make me play it.  I hate to burst bubbles here, but it's a request, not a sure thing.  I try to play every single request I get, whether I get a tip for it or not.  I'm not about to say tip me for every song, but when you are constantly asking me "what's next" or "when is my song going to play?" please be aware that unless you've contributed to my tip jar, your song will play when I get done with the tipped out songs first.  Have you ever received really good bar service? Have you ever gotten terrible service?  Chances are, waitresses and bartenders remember the people who have taken care of them.  Remember, we are there to serve you.  This younger group of people have become used to not having to wait for things and when it isn't immediately done, they complain one way or another.  While you may feel the world revolves around you, frankly thats not what happens.  Be kind to the people who serve you.  Tip us...we will always be nice to you.

Day 254...

Happy Monday!  It's National Championship Day.  Whoa...What an awesome game we had tonight.  I thought Georgia was going to pull it off, but I was wrong.  Alabama made some gutsy calls and went with an untested true freshman to start the second half and the young man from Hawaii put on a show.  Today's game is an instant classic.  I can't wait for spring ball to start.

Day 255...

Happy Tuesday! I woke up to a voicemail asking me to authorize for money to have my car fixed.  The labor costs were more than the actual part.  I decided I would rather save my money and just fix it myself.  My car still has to have the radiator repaired, but since it is out of the price range at the moment, I have it back at home.  I'll install the new battery tomorrow and cross that off the list.  I'm really thankful for the good folks at Tigard SUV.  They have been amazing to work with and I look forward to getting my ride back to them soon.
