Happy New Years Eve!
I read this amazing article from the Wall Street Journal about the science of a cork popping from a bottle of champagne. Did you know because of the pressure, the glass bottle is almost twice as thick as a standard wine bottle? Here is the article. Take a look at the slow motion of the cork popping. Did you also know that if it wasn't for the cage and sealed top, the cork would pop by itself?
