Day 95....Thursday
Thursday was the last day to prepare for the weekend. I had the day scheduled off but with the heat, I decided to not head to Sweet Home until tomorrow. Temperatures north of 100 isn't my idea of fun camping. I ended up working the second half of the night at the bar. It was a pretty slow start and once the temperature cooled down a bit, it started to get busy. It ended up being one of my most fun nights ever.
Day 96....Friday
The first day of the 25th Annual Oregon Jamboree kicked off in style. Not only was the weather over the top hot, but so was the music. Tucker Beathard led it off and his smash single "Rock Hard" was incredible in person. That set the stage for the headliner, Jason...Aldean. Not only am I a huge fan of him, but he's the first artist I ever met while working at KUPL. 22 songs...1 amazing night. Here is his #1 Hit, "Fly Over States"
Day 97....Saturday
The temperature dropped a little but the heat kept coming from the stage. Chris Janson came strong with what I believe to be the song of the summer with "Fix You A Drink"
Day 98....Sunday
I was looking forward to this day for a very long time. Growing up, Kenny Rogers' music was always in the background, or in the foreground, or just plain there. My family loves Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's Christmas album. See my previous post about Kenny's retirement announcement for more on that. When he announced he would end this tour in a couple weeks, I knew I had to see him in Sweet Home. I brought my mom with me to see him this afternoon. It was hit after hit after hit. I can't believe that at 78, he is still going strong. The voice is as smooth as it always has been. The crowd ate it up...and I love every moment of it.
Two music festivals in the book, one more to go. What an awesome weekend and I'm so thankful for the people who I got to spend time with. I am blessed to be able to call you all friends.
