What Goes Up....Doesn't Always Come Down....

50 years ago the world watched in amazement and most in the United States were scared when they found out that the Russians had launched a satellite. Sputnik became the first satellite to orbit the earth. 50 years later, space the final frontier is now home to at least 8,000 man made satellites. Of that 8,000 satellites, the US estimates that only 500-600 are operational. The rest is just space junk. Only seven countries have successfully launched satellites. Just think, 50 years ago, nothing was between the earth and the heavens. Its a wonder that the human race can achieve such a great endeavour in such a short period of time.
