As someone who has covered many sports and teams over the last seven years, I've heard a lot of weird, crazy, and down right insane things. I could write a book on things that fans and players have told me about the sun to the pizza they had in college. Its funny if you think about it. With the Blazers on a huge up swing, the Ducks adding baseball and the Beavers winning another national title, one thing has been mentioned a lot. Culture. Kevin Pritchard has used the phrase many a time and now I'm hearing it other places. Oregon's search for a new baseball coach has been asked about culture. Oregon State says its baseball culture is the reason why they get great players. Culture, what is it when it comes to sports ? I think it is the entire package that surrounds the programs or franchises. Culture, it defines us. It makes us who we are and why we follow the team. Just a thought as I am about to head to 7-11.
